Biography
Thomas Roundhill is an avid cyclist; road and mountain. When not working as a physiotherapist, he is most content on 2 wheels.
As a physiotherapist for 26 years, Thomas has extensive professional education in the areas of biomechanics and manual therapy orthopedics through the Canadian Physiotherapy Association. Additionally, he has worked with international leaders and researchers in the areas of lumbar-pelvic-hip pain, neuropathic pain, postural and movement dysfunction, thoracic mechanics, shoulder girdle dysfunction and core stability. For 15 years, Thomas instructed physicians and physiotherapists in the GunnIMS model for neuropathic dysfunction, teaching nationally as a senior instructor through the Sports Medicine department at UBC. gunnims.com
Over 2 decades, Thomas’ interest in Bike Fitting has evolved from a passion for road cycling and mountain biking, to a deep understanding of cycling biomechanics and overuse injuries resulting from tissue imbalance and suboptimal positioning on the bike. Thomas has studied Bikefitting and cycling biomechanics in Girona from experienced IBFI physios. He has combined his knowledge of the Specialized Body Geometry fitting principles with the STT 2DMA motion capture system to evaluate riders and make precision bike adjustments to optimize performance. From 26 years of clinical evaluation skill as a physiotherapist, and 22 years of practicing the craft of Bike Fitting with hundreds of cyclists, Thomas is recognized as an experienced and competent bike fitter for all disciplines of cycling.
Thomas lives in Comox B.C., where he strives to balance his clinical responsibilities with recreation and family. When not working or spending time with his wife and 2 children, he will be on a bike, in the ocean or on the mountain.
